How long does it take to get my refund after filing? How can I check the status of my refund?

The IRS is the only place that can tell you the status of your refund and you can use their Where’s My Refund tool to start tracking 24 hours after your tax return is e-filed. 

Most refunds take 2-3 weeks if you e-filed your return and asked to deposit your refund directly to your bank. 

If you had to file a paper tax return or amended return, processing and receiving your refund could take much longer.
